Angeliki Angelidis

Angeliki Angelidis was born and raised in Athens.

She has majored in Marketing – Management & Business Strategy and has been operating professionally in the field of business, with a focus on the beauty industry. In 2010 she became co-founder of the private clinic “Narcissus”, fully undertaking the development and expansion of the company. Having been professionally recognized and respected for years, she has made the decision to realize her vision!

Since 2016, alongside her professional activities, she has been pursuing studies in the Visual Arts.
In 2019, she graduated from “Vakalo Art and Design College”, where she majored in Painting, Drawing, Sketch, Collage (Pasting), and History of Art
From 2019 to 2021, she focused her studies on Drawing & Colour Techniques at the Atelier of Spyros Antonelos in Cyprus.
In 2021-2022 she pursued further education in History of Art at the School of Alexander Asonites.
Starting from 2019, she has been learning not only the language but also the history and culture of Korea, with a focus on East Asian Philosophy.

Angeliki Angelidis dedicates herself to what interests her and challenges her constantly, methodically and passionately.

Painting came into her life as an inspired escape from the everyday work pressure and became a purpose and a way of living. I watched her excitement, and her anxiety to pass from the art lover’s passive attitude to the brave decision, overcoming inhibitions and fear, to pour out her emotions on the white two-dimensional surface. With fervour and courage, perhaps even without initially envisioning the magnitude of her involvement, she began to paint and soon enough tackled large-scale canvases.

Through the latter, her painting brushes allowed her practically to experience and confront her choices via self-criticism, as well as confirming the correctness of her decision that would require endurance and consistency. Longing to familiarise herself with the composition and the colours she turned to nature. Something that led her to the “discovery” of the traditional painting of a distant yet very different country than Greece, Korea. A country in whose principles and philosophy, she found nourishment, content, and freedom. Her decision to delve into the country and its culture led her to a series of works that were initially presented in 2022 in Athens and will soon travel to Seoul, Korea.

The approach of a “foreign” culture might have led her to look for those cultural elements, the more “familiar”, emerging from another sea, the Mediterranean, where matter and form were united to serve and glorify the divine yet earthly

For the series entitled “Εuropa” which Angeliki Angelidis presents in the European Parliament exhibition space, she looked in books for the precious, literally, and metaphorically, objects and pieces of art that integrate her cultural identity. Originally collecting visual information, she then began to create works that narrate stories just on the edge of fact and myth.

The result is pieces of art, with a strong baroque character made with the technique of collage on canvas. Formed from the combination of photographs, objects, from different periods and origins, all these that bear recognisable characteristics of the great mosaic we now call European culture.

Disparate images of artworks, liturgical and worshipful objects, symbols, all these that make great museums around the world proud to exhibit, compose images that, despite their varied historical and cultural origins, constitute the theme of each painting. They are confidently attributed or connected, by the subjective activation element, to great battles, naval engagements, legends, heroes, trophies, all these that are leading chapters of history. With the synthesis of the individual, the viewer recognises his whole story and establishes a reciprocal relationship between him and the work, that activates the experience and the apperceptions and allows a personal interpretation of a largely shared story.
